About
I'm Jonathan, a full-stack engineer with a background in machine learning. I started this career in 2013 split between two worlds: studying Artificial Intelligence at Amsterdam's Vrije Universiteit and developing websites and applications at Emolife Connect. One taught me to model systems; the other to ship them.
Putting models in front of users came next. As an NLP researcher at the Nationale Nederlanden, I built deep learning systems that turned unstructured text into business forecasts. At Zeta Alpha, I developed recommender systems in a live product with real users. Building models turned into building experiences.
The founding of haas in 2020 was a turning point for the number of hats I had to wear. Imagine what that can mean for a first-time founder. The dev-ops engineer who has to figure out which button on AWS keeps the system from going down and scales it to hundreds of thousands of users. The product manager who needs to define the contours of their ideal customers and their problems. The founding partner who maps out how to make the thing earn money. A sobering thought hits you: the full picture is not just technology. End-to-end stops meaning front-to-back and becomes demand-to-solution.
Today I design AI humans want to use at AgStacked. Founded in 2022, AgStacked's focus is to help businesses reduce food waste by predicting quality in the food supply chain. In an industry where data, time and attention are scarce commodities, we distill complex solutions for the end-user, be it a farmer, retailer or middle-man. On the side, I help folks and businesses untangle their automations and systems. End-to-end thinking.
